FocusRay Series Quick Start Guide
Thank you for purchasing the FocusRay.
This page will guide you through everything from the initial setup and software download to the final steps for using face tracking in VR social platforms (VRSNS).
By following the instructions on this page, you will be able to start using your product right away.

Before You Begin
Make sure the device is fully charged. If the red LED on the left side of the camera lens is off, the device is 100% charged. (The red LED will flash while charging.)
Even if the device is not charging, you can start using it by connecting the USB Type-C cable to the AC adapter.

Get the software you need
To use FocusRay, you need to download the following software:

How to download from GitHub
If you are using Eyetrack VR, ChillOutVR, or Resonite, you will need to download the software from GitHub.
After clicking the "Download here" button above, you will be redirected to a page where you can find the Assets that say "(Version name) Latest" and click on the following to download it.

Installing the software
Install the software you downloaded in step 1 onto your computer.
Please download Baballonia and VRC Face Tracking from Steam.
For instructions on how to install and configure software other than VRC Face Tracking, please refer to the Face Tracking Starter Guide for each platform.

Powering on the Device
Slide the power switch on the right side of the camera lens to turn on the FocusRay. Do not attach the FocusRay to your VR headset just yet.
The device is starting up normally if the light on the left side of the camera lens is lit.

Connecting the console
Connect the included USB Type-C cable to the USB Type-C port on the top of the FocusRay, and then connect it via cable to the computer on which you have downloaded Baballonia.

Connecting your console to the Internet
Launch the installed "EyetrackVR".
Click "Select board" and select " xiaosenses3 (wireless mode) ".
Click the Confirm button to proceed to the next page.

When you proceed to the next page, you will see a screen to enter the SSID and password.
Here, enter the SSID and password of the Wi-Fi you want to connect to.
There is no need to change the Tracker name field.
Once you have completed the entry, click the Confirm button at the bottom right to proceed to the next page.

Internet connection
FocusRay does not support 5GHz wireless LAN connections. Be sure to enter the "2.4GHz" wireless LAN information for your network device.
Enter your internet information, proceed to the next page, and finally press the purple button that says "Install Openiris."
When you press the button, a pop-up will appear, so press the purple button that says "Install Openiris" again.


The progress will be displayed in the Serial Terminal. When all items have check marks, the FocusRay wireless settings are complete.
Please close EyetrackVR.
Setting up the camera
Baballonia in Japanese
Launch Baballonia, which you installed from Steam.
Next, click the toggle mark on the left menu of Baballonia, select "Japanese" from "Language", and open a different page from the left menu to change Baballonia to Japanese.

Connecting the console
Open Baballonia and enter the following URL in the "Face Camera Address" field under "Face Camera."
Once you have finished entering the information, press "Launch Camera" below the input field to launch the camera.

Attaching the FocusRay to a VR headset
Fix the FocusRay unit to the VR headset.
Use the included fixed mount to clip your VR headset into place.
If the arms that move back and forth on the FocusRay unit feel too loose after fixing, lightly tighten the large screws on the unit, but be careful not to overtighten them.

Set the capture range
Wear the VR headset with the FocusRay attached and check the captured image from the camera displayed in the "Face Camera" column on the right side of Baballonia.
When doing this, please make sure that the captured image shows the tip of your nose and nostrils, the area under your chin when your mouth is open, and the sides of your cheeks when you puff them out.
If it is not visible, follow the steps below to adjust the capture area.


In the "Face Camera" column on the right side of Baballonia, change the mode at the bottom from "Tracking" to "Cropping."
You can change the capture area by clicking on the displayed image and dragging it (in the same way as selecting an area).
While checking the image yourself, adjust the capture range so that the tip of your nose and nostrils, the area under your chin when your mouth is open, and the sides of your cheeks when you puff them out are all visible.
Video capture orientation
If the image is flipped or rotated, you can change the flip or orientation from the "Face Camera Settings" pull-down menu.
Also, to ensure high-quality, high-precision tracking, if the lighting is low, adjust the brightness using the "Face Camera Settings" pull-down menu.
If you are tracking in the dark, please calibrate in a dark environment.
This completes the camera setup.

Starting up the console
Connect the included USB Type-C cable to the USB Type-C port on the top of the FocusRay, and then connect it via cable to the computer on which you have downloaded Baballonia.
Slide the power switch on the right side of the camera lens to start FocusRay.
At this point, do not attach the FocusRay device to the VR headset.
If the device is recognized on the connected personal computer, it has started up normally.
Setting up the camera
Baballonia in Japanese
Launch Baballonia, which you installed from Steam.
Next, click the toggle mark on the left menu of Baballonia, select "Japanese" from "Language", and open a different page from the left menu to change Baballonia to Japanese.

Open Baballonia, click the drop-down menu under "Face Camera" and "Face Camera Address" and select "openiristracker".

Once you have completed your selection, press "Launch Camera" below the input field to launch the camera.

Attaching the FocusRay to a VR headset
Fix the FocusRay unit to the VR headset.
Use the included fixed mount to clip your VR headset into place.
After fixing it, if you feel that the arms that move back and forth on the FocusRay main unit are too soft, lightly tighten the large screws on the main unit, but be careful not to overtighten them.

Getting started with face tracking in VRChat

Launch the software
Launch VRC Face Tracking from Steam.

Configure the module
After launching VRC Face Tracking, click "Module Management" in the list menu on the left.
After pressing, find and select "VRCFT-Babble" from the list that appears.
Once selected, click "Install" on the page that appears to install the module.

Set the module mode
Start Baballonia and click on the chat icon, the fourth icon from the top in the left list menu.
When you press it, the "VRChat + VRCFaceTracking Settings" page will appear, and in "Set VRCFT module mode" select "Face".
Once you have completed your selection, close VRC Face Tracking and then start it again.

Enabling OSC in VRChat
Launch VRChat and open the radial menu (ring-shaped menu).
Select Options, then select "OSC." Select "Disable" from the menu that appears.
Once enabled, you can start enjoying face tracking right away.
*If it is already set to "Enabled" as shown in the image, there is no need to select it.



This completes all the settings.

Get started with face tracking in ChillOutVR

Install MelonLoader
Launch the downloaded MelonLoader file (MelonLoader.Installer.exe) and follow the instructions to install.

Install MelonAssistant
Launch the downloaded MelonAssistant file (CVRMelonAssistant.exe) and follow the instructions to install.

Installing OSC Mod and UI Expansion Kit using Melon Assistant
Launch Melon Assistant and check "OSC" and "UI Expansion Kit" in the "Core Mods & Libraries" section, then click "Install or Update" in the bottom right.

Enable VRCFT compatibility in OSC Mod settings
Launch VRChat and open the radial menu (ring-shaped menu).
Select Options, then select "OSC." Select "Enable" from the menu that appears.
Once enabled, you can start enjoying face tracking right away.
This completes all the settings.

Resonite
Before you begin setup

Getting started with face tracking with Resonite

Install ResoniteModLoader
Place the downloaded ResoniteModLoader file (ResoniteModLoader.bll) in the Resonite Libraries folder.
The folder path has the following format:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Resonite\Libraries
If the folder does not exist, create it.
Once the installation is complete, right-click Resonite in your Steam library and open "Properties."
Open the properties and enter the following text in the input field below the selected startup option in the "Startup Options" displayed in the "General" menu.
-LoadAssembly Libraries/ResoniteModLoader.dll
Please check the Resonite logs to see if it works.

Install VRCFTReceiver
Place the downloaded VRCFTReceiver file (VRCFTReceiver.bll) in the Resonite rml_mods folder.
The folder path has the following format:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Resonite\rml_mods
Please check the Resonite logs to confirm operation.

Launch the software
Launch VRC Face Tracking from Steam.

Configure the module
After launching VRC Face Tracking, click "Module Management" in the list menu on the left.
After pressing, find and select "VRCFT-Babble" from the list that appears.
Once selected, click "Install" on the page that appears to install the module.

Set the module mode
Start Baballonia and click on the chat icon, the fourth icon from the top in the left list menu.
When you press it, the "VRChat + VRCFaceTracking Settings" page will appear, and in "Set VRCFT module mode" select "Face".
Once you have completed your selection, close VRC Face Tracking and then start it again.

Launch Resonite
Just launch Resonite and enjoy face tracking right away.
