Infrared LEDs installed in camera units pose a risk of adverse effects on the human body (such as blindness or vision loss) if their output is too strong or if proper diffusion processing is not performed. To ensure safety, FocusRay Extension complies with the international safety standard known as IEC 62471, and its enclosure design also ensures that light is sufficiently diffused. Safety evaluation tests are also planned for the future.

While the FocusRay (AONXV-001-W / AONXV-001-WR) used a global shutter camera, this device employs a rolling shutter due to space constraints.

The FocusRay Extension features a rolling shutter camera capable of outputting up to 120fps, and it is indeed possible to use it at up to 120fps. However, the image quality is inferior to the performance listed as the effective camera performance at 30fps. Therefore, rather than simply highlighting the maximum performance, we believe that describing "effective camera performance"—performance that ensures a certain level of image quality and allows customers to use the product comfortably and stably—will serve as a more reliable criterion for customers when purchasing the product, and that is why we have included it.

It can be used in conjunction with prescription lenses (vision correction lenses). This device does not mount to the lenses, but rather attaches to the center (nose area) of the VR headset using a dedicated magnetic adsorption method*. *Patent pending

Currently, FocusRay Extension is only available in wireless models, but wired connection (communication) is also possible. However, please note that one of the two lenses must communicate wirelessly. (We are currently developing a feature that allows switching from 2.4GHz band communication to wired communication.) For information on wired connection methods and details, please refer to our support page. The FocusRay wireless model (AONXV-001-W) can also be switched to a wired connection. There are currently no plans to release a wired model, but we believe the above method will adequately meet customer demand. We will consider releasing one in the future, taking into account future demand.

This product cannot be used in conjunction with eyeglasses. This is because eyeglasses come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, making it difficult to accommodate all users. These lenses can be used in conjunction with prescription lenses, so please consider switching to them.

We plan to release the information a few months before the launch. We will announce the release on our website and various social media accounts. In addition, like all FocusRay models, FocusRay Extension will also be covered by both free and paid repair services.

Purchases made through Kickstarter will be processed through a pledge manager, which will be provided after the Kickstarter campaign ends (after May 12th). During the Kickstarter support phase, only FocusRay payments will be accepted. Before purchasing through Pledge Manager becomes available, we want to provide as much information as possible to help you consider your purchase, and we believe this will help alleviate any concerns you may have. Please note that the final decision to purchase rests with you. We are continuously conducting research and development activities for devices, including FocusRay Extension, and we will strive to ensure that these devices reach our customers reliably. We plan to ship the products sequentially starting from the release date of October 17, 2026.

This product is primarily intended for sale in Japan, the United States, Australia, various European countries, the United Kingdom, and Hong Kong, but through Kickstarter, we will sell it worldwide (limited to areas where shipping is possible). (We will continue to work on expanding our sales regions, including obtaining legal certifications.) The FocusRay Extension comes with a one-year warranty from the date of purchase. Purchases made through Kickstarter or pre-orders are covered by a one-year warranty starting from October 17, 2026. If a product malfunctions or breaks down during the warranty period, we will replace or repair it free of charge. Please note that the warranty covers defects and malfunctions as specified in the warranty terms and conditions.
