Notice of Partial Specification Changes and Apology Regarding the Stabilization of FocusRay Wireless Models.
Dear Valued Customers,
Thank you very much for your continued support of our products.
I am Rion Moriyama, President and CEO of AoharuNEXT Inc.
I would like to deeply apologize for having to announce a specification change regarding our face-tracking device, the "FocusRay" series—a product we have been actively developing—that significantly falls short of your expectations.
Our top priority for this product was to deliver "unmatched precision that no competitor can match," and our team has been dedicated to its development for over six months.
However, during the final verification process just prior to mass production, we discovered that under specific environments and conditions, maintaining our target of "uncompromising precision" continuously and stably using the originally planned component configuration was not possible.
Considering the overall quality and operational stability of the product as our primary concern, we have made the difficult decision to partially modify the specifications of the "FocusRay Wireless Model."
1. Details of Specification Changes
Camera Sensor Change (Wireless Model)
While we previously announced the adoption of the "OV9281" sensor, we will change the camera sensor for the wireless model to a different model in order to prioritize operational stability.
Shutter System Change (Wireless Model)
Due to the sensor change, the shutter mechanism will change from the conventional "Global Shutter" to a "Rolling Shutter."
Estimated Effective Performance (Frame Rate)
Wireless Model: Effective performance of 60–80 fps. (Note: The maximum spec limit remains unchanged at 120 fps.)
Wired Model: While there is no change to the sensor (OV9281), the effective performance is expected to be around 70–90 fps.
*Effective performance refers to values expected to operate stably under actual usage environments. Because this varies depending on your specific setup, it does not guarantee an absolute output value.
We sincerely apologize for disappointing those who have been eagerly awaiting the release due to these changes from our originally announced specifications.
Furthermore, we will continue our software and control optimization efforts without giving up, aiming to unlock the maximum potential of 120 fps in the future.
2. Our Commitments and Response to Customer Concerns
We fully understand your concerns regarding whether accuracy will decrease or if this constitutes an effective downgrade in specifications. This decision was made to avoid delivering a product in an unstable state and to maximize its reliability to the absolute limit.
To ensure that this specification change does not compromise product reliability and to earn back your trust, we promise to undertake the following measures:
Enhancement of Low-Jitter and Low-Latency Hardware Design
Taking advantage of this stabilization effort, we will perform hardware-level redesigns and improvements to minimize tracking "jitter" (shaking) and "latency" (delay).
Product Warranty Extension (Extended from 1 Year to 1.5 Years)
As a gesture of apology and a commitment to rebuilding trust, customers who purchase or back the product on or before this announcement date (August 13, 2026) will have their warranty period uniformly extended to 1.5 years (1-year basic warranty + 6-month extension).
(Note: For customers in the EU, where local laws mandate a standard 2-year basic warranty, the total warranty period will be extended to 2.5 years (2-year basic warranty + 6-month extension). Customers purchasing after August 13, 2026, will receive the standard basic warranty. Coverage scope adheres to the original warranty terms.)
Release of Latest Verification Footage
We have published a verification video (approx. 15 minutes) using the current development unit. We hope this allows you to review the actual tracking accuracy and behavior:

Distribution of Preset Values for Optimal Tracking
For the supported open-source software "Baballonia," we are currently validating and will soon release optimized preset parameters designed to maximize this product's performance.
Strengthening Technical Support
We are expanding our support channels and updating our Quick Start Guide to establish a system where you can use our product with peace of mind after purchase.
Global Distribution and Community Expansion
We will accelerate our global rollout through group companies, building a strong user community to deliver continuous product updates based on user feedback. Additionally, we will thoroughly review our PR materials to ensure there are no misleading statements.
3. Regarding the Eye Tracker (FocusRay Extension)
We understand that this announcement may also cause concern for those considering or pre-ordering our eye-tracker module, the "FocusRay Extension."
Taking the lessons and verification results from this face-tracking (FocusRay) situation to heart, we are approaching the development and quality control of the "FocusRay Extension" with thorough measures to prevent similar specification changes or issues.
Currently, there are no planned specification changes for the "FocusRay Extension." Please be assured that development is proceeding as scheduled to deliver the product with full quality.
Closing
This decision was heartbreaking for the entire development team. However, to honor our "commitment to quality," we judged that even if made at the last minute, disclosing the truth and delivering a product with guaranteed stability and completion is our ultimate responsibility as leaders and developers.
We once again offer our deepest and most sincere apologies for failing to meet your expectations and causing significant concern and inconvenience.
We will work together as a team to finalize the product so that when it arrives, you will feel confident that this decision was a necessary step toward making the "FocusRay" a more trusted product.
We humbly ask for your understanding and continued support.
Sincerely,
AoharuNEXT Inc.・AoharuNEXT America Inc.
