AoharuNEXT Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Rion Moriyama) has announced the "FocusRay Extension," an eye-tracking device for VR SNS that can be used in conjunction with various prescription lenses. It will be released on Saturday, October 17, 2026, at a suggested retail price of 17,700 yen (tax included).

On the same day, we will also release "FocusRay Plus," a bundle set including the "FocusRay Wireless Model (AONXV-001-W)" and "FocusRay Extension (AONXV-002-W)," at a suggested retail price of 27,500 yen (tax included).

This multi-device can be used in combination with the existing FocusRay or as a standalone FocusRay Extension unit.

It adopts a mounting method different from conventional products; by utilizing a new fixing system, users who use prescription lenses (vision correction lenses) attached to VR headset lenses can use the device without issues, regardless of the lens type.

Furthermore, for those who purchased the FocusRay series (AONXV-001-W / AONXV-001-WR) through the ongoing Kickstarter campaign (March 18, 2026 – May 12, 2026), we will offer the product at a limited price to interested customers as a stretch goal for exceeding a 150% achievement rate.

1. About FocusRay Extension

FocusRay Extension is an eye-tracking device for VR SNS consisting of a compact camera module and a core module. By adopting a unique magnetic adsorption method* (patent pending), it can be used without problems even by those using prescription lenses attached to VR headset lenses. (It is not a lens-fixed system.)

In addition to being used with various FocusRay models (AONXV-001-W / AONXV-001WR), it can be used as a standalone FocusRay Extension or in combination with face-tracking devices from other companies.

However, please note before purchasing that the "proximity sensor" mounted on the VR headset—which detects wearing/removal to automatically enter sleep mode—will no longer be usable.

The core module, which houses the information processing board and battery, is equipped with one USB Type-C port for power supply. For example, by connecting a FocusRay here, the continuous operating time can be extended by taking advantage of the FocusRay Extension’s large-capacity battery (2000mAh).

Additionally, it features two USB Type-C ports capable of both communication and power supply. One can be used for input from the HMD, etc., and the other for output to audio devices, etc.

This allows various elements to be resolved with a single FocusRay Extension core module without the need for a USB splitter.

FocusRay Extension is compatible with the following headsets. We will gradually announce additional compatible devices as physical verification is completed.

Customers who own multiple devices can use a single main unit for multiple headsets by purchasing separate dedicated mounting bases.

Supported platforms include VRChat, Resonite, and ChilloutVR, as supported by the software. By using "Baballonia," developed by the open-source face/eye-tracking project "Project Babble," the device supports smooth face tracking.

The FocusRay Extension will be available only as a wireless LAN connection model, consisting of two modules: a camera module and a core module.

On the same release day, we will launch "FocusRay Plus," a bundle set that includes the FocusRay Wireless Model (AONXV-001-W). As before, the FocusRay series will continue to be sold individually.
