AoharuNEXT Inc. (Headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Rion Moriyama) is pleased to announce that the pre-sales for "FocusRay," a next-generation face-tracking device for VRSNS equipped with a high-performance camera module, commenced on the crowdfunding site "Kickstarter" on March 18, 2026, at 8:00 PM (JST).

Immediately following the launch of the project, we experienced a level of traffic that far exceeded our expectations, generating such a massive response that it caused temporary payment delays on the platform's end.

The main campaign period from March 18, 2026, to May 12, 2026, concluded successfully. At the close of the campaign, the final results stood at a 399% achievement rate, with 1,134 backers and a total pledge amount of 15,984,966 yen. Following this, the late pledge period (extended period) ends tonight at 11:59 PM, and we are pleased to report the final project results as follows:

Achievement Rate: 462%

Total Pledge Amount: 18,488,436 yen

Number of Backers: 1,306 backers

While sales on Kickstarter have come to a close, pre-orders and standard sales for each FocusRay model and the FocusRay Extension have started from 6:00 PM today.

FocusRay is a face-tracking device for VR SNS equipped with high-performance cameras and infrared illumination modules. By featuring cameras capable of 120fps recording with a global shutter system*, it captures user expressions in fine detail and reflects them onto avatars in VR SNS, achieving unprecedented emotional expression.

*A global shutter is a system where all pixels of the camera's image sensor are exposed (capturing light) at the same time, recording the image all at once. This allows for the accurate capture of facial expressions.

In addition to the above, we will continue to provide dedicated mounting brackets for headsets released in the future. (Preparations are underway so that accessories can be purchased at any time from our EC site and other sales partners.)

The device supports smooth face tracking by utilizing "Baballonia," developed by the open-source face tracking project "Project Babble," as its software.
